We are aiming at energy and water independence for the building, through modern technologies of energy conservation and also by using photovoltaic and geothermal heating to cover our heating, cooling and hot water.
To achieve energy autonomy we will install more energy efficient walls and windows in the building and encourage practices to reduce energy consumption. Selected use of solar panels is also planned.
The station already has water autonomy through the use of water from a well. For optimal water management and reduction of water use, we aim at the full collection of rainwater, and its use of, for irrigation, flushing baths and other uses without particularly high quality requirements. We will also investigate the potential of 'gray' water reuse (from sinks, showers, bathtubs).
