Renewal of infrastructure

The planned renewal of building infrastructure is a modernization of the building to create a modern "Station Field" capable of operating with the greatest possible self-sufficiency that can accommodate researchers and students from Greece and abroad, as well as to host the teaching and field research needs of the University of Ioannina.
In addition, it can host small conferences, seminars and other scientific and cultural events, which are organized both by the University of Ioannina, the municipality of Zagori and other local agencies.
Current upgrading activities include:
- Conversion of old loom facilities to a conference hall (completed).
- Upgrade of all bathrooms and staff bedrooms (in progress).
- Painting of all rooms (in progress).
- Energy upgrading to modern green standards to achieve energy saving and to reduce the operational expenses and the possible future maintenance needs.
- Improve fire and lightning protection.
- Installing a lift.
- Aesthetic interventions for the external appearance of the building.
